Financial Manager

Under the general direction and supervision of the District Manager, the Financial Manager performs and oversees a variety of professional, financial, administrative and human resources work. Core functions include budget preparation and monitoring, cost analysis, administrative research and analysis, project analysis and monitoring, risk management, workers’ compensation and general administrative tasks. In addition, this position will administer the District’s benefit programs (health, dental, vision and other plans), draft specifications and monitor District contracts. Supervises and provides technical guidance to assigned administrative support staff.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently. This position requires flexibility and a capacity to adapt quickly. The Financial Manager must be able to maintain and foster working relationships at all levels – field, office, laboratory/scientific and administrative. Occasional interactions with the Board of Trustees can be expected so the successful candidate should be able to analyze data and present his or her findings in a clear and concise manner.

This opportunity is unusual since the successful candidate will have the chance to work with the current Financial Manager through the end of February 2018 to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. The ideal candidate can quickly master the current accounting operating system and unique processes, while proactively assessing the prospect of implementing a more modern system.

The District is seeking someone who enjoys a fast paced environment and can successfully manage the inherent challenges of working with a small staff that produces a large amount of work in a positive working atmosphere.

Education and experience

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, accounting, human resources or closely related field.

Four years of paid full-time government accounting, human resources and/or administrative duties that includes three or more years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay scale annualized amounts are Step 1: $103,757, Step 2: $107,907, Step 3: $112,223 and Step 4: $116,712

The District offers a benefits package which includes: Medical plan up to family coverage, 80% premium paid by District. Dental, Vision, two $10k life insurance policies and long-term disability plan.
